The above painting, Home Sweet Home , was painted about 5 years ago in recognition of the serious planetary conditions we are facing. I was always surprised at the lack of reaction that people had in seeing this image. Was it disaster fatigue? Cosmic Being, shows a human being who has the point of view of Life. As Life, we are one with the universe and the ecological system of the earth. What happens to Earth and what happens to human beings has a direct impact on all of us. We are not isolated beings. Everything is in relationship. We are in danger of destroying our earthly home and ourselves as a species. If we wake up to the fact that we are not just isolated individuals living off the resources of the earth, but that we are in relationship to each other and to the planet, then we have a new basis of understanding. As we come out of the isolation from the pandemic, I am pleased to show art – not online, but in a real gallery space. I wanted to let you know about an exhibit of artwork that I just put up at the Center for the Arts of Homer. There is work from several series of paintings and drawings from the last eight years. The show is colorful, with various media and styles, and commentary on what it means to be human.
