New stone assemblages have been created in 2021! Of course, there are fossils and shells from Cayuga Lake and stones from Taughannock Creek,  but many other interesting objects made their way into these compositions.   Timeless Grace Humanity in Deep Slumber Balancing Act Beyond Ourselves Two Lights  

New Project by Fernando I think that it was at the end of March that, moved by the COVID 19 tragedy unfolding in China, Europe, and NYC, I made a very quick sketch representing one human being embracing another. That sketch became a formal piece in which the embrace occurs between two stylized figures cut out of painted paper. The title of this piece was "Quarantine Love". I shared a pic of that piece with Rennie Castelino of Bay Area Faceting in San Mateo who liked it enough to suggest Mark Oros (o f Hashnu Stones in T-Burg) and I worked together in the creation of a new piece in which the same design would be transposed to stone using some extraordinarily beautiful Polish flint of his. After a couple of meetings with Mark, I made a new drawing and, on that basis, cut the paper templates needed to transfer the design to slabs of the Polish flint. This wedding guestbook, made by Fernando, has Taughannock Creek shale and fossils. It is 7x7" and has 90 sheets of 24 lb. acid free paper. If you're interested, send an e-mail. Price: $150 + tax.

Fernando is showing hand-made books and paintings at  The Bookery in Ithaca. The work is up and the opening is  Gallery Night, May 3, from 5-8 pm.  The Bookery is in the DeWitt Mall, Ithaca, NY.

The Dragon and the Butterfly Fernando is having a show of assemblages at Gimme Coffee in Trumansburg, through August. The five assemblages in this show are  an experimental collaboration with MARK OROS,  lapidary artist at HASHNU STONES in Trumansburg. Journey Beyond Separation Fancy Mom

Fernando has been designing a notebook.  The shapes are selected from Taughannock Creek stones. These are the chosen stones in their final arrangement.  The stone shapes are carved into the cover board. The book cover is prepared. The book block and the cover are ready to be glued together. The stone shapes are also added to the back cover in low relief. The front and back boards have been covered in blue linen fabric. The stones are glued onto the cover. Today we were hanging the show that will open this Gallery Night at CAP Artspace.  Fernando should be in this picture, but he is, as usual, behind the camera.  Hope to See you this Friday, Dec. 1, 5-8 in Center Ithaca, Ihaca Commons.

Fernando Llosa  is opening a new exhibit on Gallery Night,  December 1, 2017  at the Community Arts Partnership  ArtSpace Gallery,  in Center Ithaca, on the Ithaca Commons.  The title of the show is "Beyond Ourselves"  a meditation on the mystery of life  as humanity's only common ground. The exhibit will be open throughout December.
